Most people introduced to technology after the advent of the Internet most likely never heard of the BBS Systems. On the other hand, those who lived the 8-bit era surely remembers very well what it is. Nostalgic are those times when a simple electronic-mail required multiple steps to be sent and received, all through dial-up connections.
The truth is, most of the amazing technologies Internet offers nowadays already existed in a rudimentary form in the BBS. Download and upload technologies, chat, e-mails, information exchange, amazing ASCII art, etc. All tools and resources from the 8-bits era!
But, if it brought you memories, or curiosity (for the one who never accessed a BBS) the good news is that it is still possible to access BBS nowadays, now using modern computers and the Internet.
Here a list of some BBS systems that are dedicated to MSX and/or 8-bit computers, some even run entirely on an MSX machine. Have fun!
