Police Dog: Hudson Soft's MIA is found – Clube MSX Magazine

Last Sunday (15), the website File-Hunter.com made available for download a MIA (understand the acronym below) from Hudson Soft for MSX1: Police Dog . The title screen informs the year 1983, which shows that it is a game from the early days of the MSX standard. According to Arnaud de Klerk , responsible for the popular file repository, the game (in CAS format and available in a ZIP file) was sent by an anonymous donor.

In Police Dog , you take on the role of a police dog who must stop a gorilla thief – fresh out of a bank with a large bag of money on his back – from reaching his hideout. To stop him, you must obstruct the streets with police barriers – sawhorses with the word “stop” on them.

During the chase, the gorilla occasionally drops small bags of money on the ground. Each of these bags, when collected, earns you 100 points. If the gorilla reaches the hiding place (the space marked “gorira”), you lose a bonus and a life. If the gorilla bumps into the police officer, you also lose a life.

How to play Police Dog
Use the space bar to start the game and to place a police barrier on a street. These barriers are temporary, meaning they only block passage for a moment and then disintegrate. Use the arrow keys to move the police dog.

Understand what MIA is
MIA stands for “Missing In Action.” In the context of gaming, the term is used to refer to games that were developed but never officially released or were lost over time. When a MIA game is discovered, it is usually big news for the community, as it means that a piece of gaming history has been recovered.
