Genami Retro Prototypes | MSX Resource Center

Probably some of you have started to hear about Miguel Fides (aka mfides) despite being a well-known AMIGA developer. We are not exaggerating if we say that he joined the MSX scene recently and in this short period already developed sufficiently relevant hardware for our beloved system, among them the Yamanooto cartridge. Moreover Miguel took part in the development of the PGCard and KrakenGraph cartridges by MSXCalamar.
Thanks to José Luis Lerma (aka erpirao), who introduced him to the MSX world, today we have the opportunity to present you to his more ambitious projects to date:
Tides-Rider HDK (MSX2+ compatible board)
- Z84C0020 CPU switchable between 3.58 MHz/6.66 MHz/10 MHz/20 MHz on the fly.
- 512 KB RAM.
- SD Slot for mass storage.
- DMA support is provided through the cartridge slot for future implementations.
Note that the board is provided with empty sockets for the VDP, VRAM, PSG, OPLL, and RTC. The power supply is also missing.
Usebio (Omega USB keyboard adapter)
- Designed to be used with the Tides-Rider HDK board.
- As it works as a HUB, a joystick or a gamepad can be plugged into it.
- Z84C0020 CPU switchable between 3.58 MHz/6.66 MHz/10 MHz/20 MHz on the fly.
- 512 KB de RAM.
- F4 register implemented.
- It only requires a swap of the original Z80 CPU. No wires are needed.
In the meanwhile, Miguel keeps working on more MSX projects such as a new version of the Yamanooto with SD card, a cartridge called ARMSX for the Tides-Rider that allows connecting to the MSX as a hardware debugger, and the BALROG280 (Z280 cartridge) developed side by side with Néstor Soriano (aka Konamiman). Both devices are in very beta stages.
