Guzzler, MSX conversion of a 1983 classic
Mastropiero has recently released a new Japanese conversion of a game thatwas released in 1983 in arcades by Tehkan.
In Guzzler , as this game is called, our little character's mission is to put out various fires scattered across the screen. To do so, he'll have to use the water he finds in puddles and collect it inside to use wherever necessary. The difficulty in Guzzler lies in the fact that enemies emerge from the fires and will burn us if we come into contact with them, although we can throw water at them to keep them at bay.
I hadn't heard of this classic game, featuring labyrinthine environments on static screens, where progress requires eliminating all the key objects. In addition to the arcade version, Guzzler was released for SEGA's SG-1000 console , which is very similar in video architecture to the MSX, making conversion to MSX much easier, as was the case here.
The game is available for download from itch.io .
