With the launch of the MSX Game Score, an exciting and innovative new feature has been added to the arsenal of cool MSX stuff. MSX Game Score is a platform dedicated for MSX gamers to uploading their MSX game high scores and perhaps to compete with fellow players. Will you be able to reach the top of the leader board?

MRC user Guillaume “Aoineko” Blanchard has been working on an score board for MSX games since he deposited his game Crawlers to the MSXdev23 compo. With the MSX Game Score (MGS) initiative, gamers can upload their high score to the website using a manual entry or simply use a generated QR code that can be scanned directly from the MSX computer. The author is now opening up the web site for other developers to join. The latest MSXdev entry Room5 has already been added.

The MGS service provides MSX game developers a website to add their game to so players can submit scores or other achievements. While visiting, users are able to consult multiple score boards. There’s also the option to register, claim a username and have a dedicated user space. A variety of properties can be recorded at MGS. For example, the game Crawlers lets users record the time taken to complete each of the 40 levels in the “challenges” mode. Game developer Fabulous 8bit has already announced to use the MGS for their upcoming game(s). Expect other games to be added too.
