This past September 15th, the MSXdev competition kicked off its twenty-first edition, which this time will run until March 15th, 2026.
And it has done so with incredible force that has brought us five games in less than ten days :
- Bobby Is Still Going Home . A remake by Amaury Carvalho of the classic 1983 action game Bobby Is Going Home from the Atari 2600 console. The goal is to help the protagonist get home while avoiding the dangers that arise in each of the screens.

- Brain Teaser , by YR Sova . Another MSX conversion of an existing game, this time a puzzle game where the goal is to make all the numbers disappear from the screen, leaving only the number 5. The key to the game is that the numbers follow a specific pattern that connects them, and which we'll have to figure out in order to clear the game board.

- Twin Peaks . Mapax brings us a game that revives the classic memory game mechanic: uncovering identical tiles on a board to make them disappear by displaying the background image associated with those tiles. The graphic quality of Twin Peaks is particularly notable when using an MSX2+, as it takes advantage of the features of that generation of MSX.

- Car Pull 2177. An original concept brought to our screens by The Original Abstract Games : our goal is to help a strongman pull a car with a rope to beat his opponent. But we don't control the character; our mission is to solve small memory puzzles to earn enough points to give the character "strength."

- Ski and Roll . Another game from The Original Abstract Games , and very similar to the previous one, but instead of a strongman pulling a car, the setting is a ski slope where our character has to go as far as possible. The type of puzzle to solve is similar, except that here dice are used and the objective is to find the number that is neither the highest nor the lowest, and to do so, we will have to perform calculations with addition and multiplication.

- Solar Fox: Space Evaders . Jess Creations challenges us to survive with our Solar Skimmer spaceship in a hostile environment where reflexes will be key to dodging enemy attacks while collecting all the energy cores that appear on the screen. The unique feature of our ship is that, despite having no weapons, it is capable of activating superspeed to escape from the most difficult situations.

This is, without a doubt, a great run of releases for MSXdev. And I'm sure we'll see many more things to brighten our lives over the next six months.
