The Curse of Lies: eleventh game registered in MSXdev24 – Revista Clube MSX

The MSXdev24 competition has just received another contender: The Curse of Lies , an intriguing puzzle game developed by French developer Rei-Vax-73 . Designed to run on MSX2 with MSXDOS2, the game is presented on a 720 kB floppy disk and challenges players to decipher enigmas guided by two guardians.

The story of The Curse of Lies

In the story, two twins, an enchantress and an enchantress, were guardians of a sacred shrine until they were cursed. The curse condemned them to speak only the truth or lies, with no control over which would be the next. The only way to break the spell is to find the Flower of Truth , a mystical power that can be unleashed by gathering the right combination of magical flowers.

How to play The Curse of Lies

Players must trust – and distrust – the guardians’ guidance as they carefully choose flowers for each move. The game’s mechanics challenge perception, as appearances can be deceiving, and success depends on correctly interpreting clues that may not always be true.

The game uses a keyboard or joystick and comes with a manual that will certainly help you in the arduous task of breaking the curse. The game, although made for MSX1, uses MSX-DOS2 to run.

The Curse of Lies is the eleventh game entered in the 2024 edition of MSXdev, the traditional game development contest for the MSX. Already participating are the games Harker's Escape , Wizsoul , Grazers , Sam.Pr , Chimney Man , Minas , Whack 'Em Smack 'Em Byrons , Puzzle Mania-MSXdev24 Edition , AlienMSX and Princess Paloma's Rescue .
